Tohatsu 18hp Two-Stroke, Anyone?

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but the Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke I have had for five years and which has been 100% reliable is now looking a bit tired, and I want to replace it with something a bit pokier. A Yam 15hp two stroke is the obvious solution, however I am tempted by another Tohatsu, 18hp two stroke, but have heard stories of unreliability, admittedly of engines used/abused on rented sports craft. Much obliged if there is there anyone out there in the know.

we also have a 18 hp tohatsu, and like it, it starts reliably and has never let us down, why spend money on something that you are not sure of?

I've still got my T 9.9 which we bought new in '93. It served us well for four years while in Mexico, but now it hardly ever gets started. These days, sits out in the weather on my Avon on the dock.
When I use it, it starts. I've gotta do something about all the cobwebs and corrosion on the various bits though.
