Thrown Rod Ford Lehman 70hp Help!

Hello CF!
I threw a rod through the side of my block it is a 1971 Ford Lehman Diesel 70 HP. I am in Hawaii (Oahu) and am having zero luck finding another block. Until I screwed up the engine ran like a champ I would really like to replace the block and keep the setup I have. I am looking for advice/opinions on replacing just the block or try for a different unit? Also any suggestions where I could find this engine block would be great. I haven't found any on CL or EBay or Google. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Buy an entire engine and cannibalize the good stuff. You may very well need more than the block.

You're going to need at least a short block. If it put a rod through the side of the block, the crank is also wasted, or at least needs to be welded and remachined. The rod is obviously junk, and the piston is likely junk too, and possibly the valves in that cylinder, too.

I'm told the HP depends on the year of the engine, mine is older, stamped 71, but the guy I bought the boat from said it was a 56..

Look for a used 80 hp 2711e. Run lab tests on both engine oil and injector oil.

We have a ?1969 Lees 2701E Dorset, variously quoted as 80hp (top revs) and 50HP (cruising revs). YOu could try gumtree.com.au which has lots of engine projects available !

I know it's been a while, thank you everyone who has offered advice etc. Life is finally calming down, hopefully my block will come out in 8 days. A friend thinks he can repair it, wish me luck! If he can't fix it, I'm going electric!
