Throttle/Shift Controls for Yanmar 1gm10

I've got a used Yanmar 1gm10 for repowering but am not sure what throttle controls are needed- brand new to all this stuff. It seems that Morse controls are some sort of universal standard? Does this mean I can buy any Morse control and hook it up, or does it need to be particular to this engine? Surprised to find nothing about controls in any of my books and not having much luck digging through mounds of info on setting up controls that assumes you already have ones to match your engine...

There's a Yanmar engine installation manual. Very large, because it covers a number of models and you have to go through tables to find the specs for yours. Can't remember how I got mine, but probably online so do a Google search. Worth the $ and effort.

You can use almost any throttle lever out there. It comes down to how it's mounted, what you want and willing to pay for. The throw is determined by which hole one uses in the tranny lever. >>>> Controls and Cables « Teleflex Marine

Ok, that seems pretty straightforward. Just wanted to double check before I go and buy a secondhand control. Thanks!

The 1GM in our Cape Dory uses a Morse single lever control...

What he said, almost anything will do. Just check the throttle and tranny lever travel as shown in the Yanmar manual, and compare with the spec's for whatever lever you turn up. I have a Morse MV-2 single lever on my 2GM and it works a treat.
