Suzuki dt40 overheated

Hi there guys I have a dt40 which overheated quite badly. It turned out the impeller was the problem.

The engine will now not start. It also seems to be turning over a lot slower.

Anybody have any idea what it could be. Blown headgasket? Or could head be warped?

I am doing a compression test at weekend to see what it comes up with.

What would be a good compression be on this engine?

Many thanks.

It sounds like it may be partially seized, by that I mean possible severe scuffing of the cylinder wall etc.
I base that solely on you comment about it turning over more slowly with the starter now.
If it were mine, I'd start by pulling the head(s) and verifying the cylinder walls aren't scored and go from there.

Re: Suzuki dt40 overheated

Hi guys did a compression test today, bottom cylinder is reading 68psi and top cylinder is showing 104 psi.

i have a problem with the bottom cylinder though. i noticed a bit of metal which the spark plug seats onto has sheered off. meaning the spark plug doesnt sit flush all the way round.

could this cause engine problems?obviously it has nothing to do with the overheating however its something i would like to get fixed.

whats the best fix for this?

thanks
