No, it would be hot!

And you would have to wait for one or two hours to raise steam before having some usable power.

And that's just the engine! Another $10K for the boiler to make the steam to run the 3HP engine (at least if I read their site properly).

Pretty cool, but there's a reason for diesel.

And what kind of fuel would you burn to boil the water, to make the steam, to turn the motor. Throttling up and down would be fun.

It's no wonder why they stopped using steam motors. Only on big ships is it efficient, and those are being replaced with huge diesels.

And it would not be cool, it would be hot.

One of my friends has built a steam engine for an old 20ft clinker in Sydney entirely from scratch! He has an engineering and machining workshop and has spent a long time getting it working. I will see if I can get some pics of it next week

I love my job, I get to survey some pretty cool boats ...... this one took 20 years and 1.5 million dollars to build one piece at a time.
