Stainless Steel Driptrays.

Greetings all. My Perkins Prima M50 service manual states very clearly that stainless steel or copper drip trays must not be used with an aluminium sump. I understand why that would be a problem if there was contact between the different metals, but if there is no contact, what would create a problem .

Re: Stainless Steel Driptrays.

Might this be based on the premise that lightning protection requires all metallic components be bonded. Engine is close to drip tray, and therefore possibility of direct link.
Just a guess.

Given no electrical contact / circuit, I agree with you. Most probably a simple ACE by Perkins. ACE = A*^e Covering Exercise.
