Sole diesel mini?

I am considering buying a second hand boat that had a recent engine replacement and received a Solé diesel mini 44 instead of its old Volvo MD17.

Are Solé engines reliable, well supported parts? The other option I see is to get a boat with an admittedly dead engine with a steep discount and I fit a brand new Bukh 36. Financially the two options look very similar (approx 10k € difference)...

Sole marinizes Mitsubishi industrial diesel engines so many parts can be accessed through non-marine sources. I know that Caterpillar uses Mitsubishi engines in small excavators for example, I'm sure there are others. Sole is still in business so you should have support from them as well. I have a Universal marine diesel in my boat based on a Kubota engine and I get most of my parts at the tractor dealer for a fraction of what I used to pay when I had a Volvo.

Thank you, CAT sounds like a good reference! I want to stay away from Volvo, I'll see what I can get... Good (everywhere available+affordable) serviceability is half success, reliability in a boating environment is the other half.
