Same Filter Part Number Totally Different Filter.

Same part number but totally different filter?

This is to suit our Paguro 6Kva Genset powered by a 2 cyl Lombardini, has anyone else come across these before?

Re: Same Filter Part Number Totally Different Filter.

I would stick with OEM oil filters!

Last year I couldn't locate a Westerbeke labeled filter and went with a Sierra, cross-referenced P/N, at the same price. After 20 hrs the o-ring blew dumping 7 quarts in the engine pan. Thinking it was an installation problem I installed another Sierra which blew right away.

Sierra refunded my money but claimed they couldn't find anything wrong with their filters. My analysis showed a difference in gasket dimensions. They asked to see my findings which I sent but since they never got back to me I suggest sticking with the OEM product.

The filter company may have changed design or manufacturer. On cars, like my ex 68 Chevelle, usually you want the higher capacity filter.

If it fits, I would verify with the filter company before using, just to make sure.

Doesn't fit at all, the 'O' ring diameter is different, the cone is concave the other convex.

Getting OEM is nigh on impossible cruising the Med.

Fleetguard are a huge company?????
