running RPM

I have a 46 foot sailboat with a new 75 HP turbo yanmar. What RPM should I run it at? How high can I go? The tach only goes to 5000. Thanks

Find the Yanmar manual on the boat
If not, you can download one for your specific engine (model number should be on engine plate) - multiple sources.
It will tell you Max RPM & give running + care instructions

Rule of thumb - 80% of max is a good max to observe....run all day @ that level....although you can improve (even more) fuel efficiency by dropping it even further.

Turbos need a little extra care (cool down & "blow Out" every now & then) - sure owners will chime in

5000 - just a dial face number

If it is the 4JH3-TE, it is rated at max 75 hp aat 3800 rpm, and continuous operation of 69 hp at 3700 rpm. But it will last a lot longer at 2800-3000 rpm cruising speed. You can download PDF manuals for just about everything at the Yanmar website.
