Replacing Teleflex Cable

Besides the cotter pin being removed; does anyone know how I would disconnect the gear shift cable from the "lever" section of the throttle cable? It is a volvo penta throttle with a teleflex cable. (My engine is a Yanmar diesel 3GMF). Many thanks

I replaced both the throttle and shift cables on my volvo penta single lever engine control this year. As far as I can recall, it was fairly simple--I had to take the shifter top cover off, but didn't have to remove the shifter from the base. Once I got the cotter pins off and the brass pins out of their holes (I think you had to move the shifter full travel to get to one of them), I bent the cables around to release them from their keepers. Then loosen the locknut and unscrew the cable end fitting from the cable. Be sure you mark which holes the cables come out of!
