replacing drive shaft and carrier bearing

Hello
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with replacing the drive shaft to a 1983 Morgan Out Island 416 cc with a Perkins engine. Info on removal process and if anyone could recommend a good supplier or if it would be better to have one made in a shop in my area? I need to replace the carrier bearing also but don't seem to be able to find brand or specks for it in the perkins manual i have

That kind of thing would not be in the Perkins manual, nor the gear/ trans manual either. It's the kind of thing that some local boatyard mechanic knows about and where to get the parts.
