My
installation has a
Racor 230 filter near the tank as the primary filter for all
fuel. The
Perkins main has a
Perkins final filter element on the
engine after the
lift pump, but the Perkins
generator has a
Racor 220R filter in line after the
lift pumps - a small NAPA
electric pump, then mechanical
pump, then filter, then injection pump.
I know the Racor literature says the 220R should be on the suction side, and I know it also says that it should take up to 7 psi. When the genset is running, there is a slight drip from the bowl
plug where the
water detector option goes.
Should I replumb this in front of the lift pumps, get a new final filter rated for a higher pressure, or replace the
gasket on the
plug & keep on chugging? Anyone know what the pressure output of a typical pump is?
Thanks, Chris
