Procrastination . . . Boy, Were they Lucky . . .

Just got done winterizing two vessels......Had to thaw both engines.....

Fortunately, no ruptures in the engines......What normally takes a relatively short time (Oil Change and Winterizing) took much longer.
(Read more boat units)

Why people put this off, endangering their investment, is hard to understand.

I will still get calls after Christmas and into January. Fortunately all my
"Regulars" have been done weeks ago.

Take a little break....and it is into the Winter (inside) Projects.

Very good reminder. We don't do that here but in the frozen north its pretty much necessary. Had my boat up in Seattle for a time and remember how cold it can get.
regards,

Yeah! On the day is was 10 F, I went to the boat. I keep (4) 250 Watt lights burning and it still got down to 32 inside. I think that's my limit (10).

The water pumps were working but the water froze to the SS sink bottom when I pumped it. The motor is drained of raw water, just the antifreeze mix remains.

I for one do not have fond memories of spending those cold November evenings winterizing the diesel engine. One of the nice aspects of converting to electric propulsion is not having to freeze one's butt off to winterize. You just pull the boat and winterize the water system and you are done. No squeezing my 6'2" frame under the cockpit too.

Is/Are there any preventative measures you take in laying up the Electrical System?

The Electric Boat idea I find fascinating.

When I was aboard a couple Diesel-Electric Tugs, extended idleness played havoc with brushes and commutators....sometimes
