Perkins Fuel Filter

Hi all, I have a perkins 4-107, which thru some discovery has various 108 parts on it. Anyway, I'm doing some servicing and was going thru the fuel system and removed the secondary fuel filter and head for rebuild. In the replacement kit there is one small o-ring and I can't remember where it goes. I see two obvious choices, 1) under the head of the long bolt that holds the head, filter and lower bowl together, but there is a copper crush washer there. Which actually doesn't make to much sense because there really should be that much presssure on this bolt becuase it's only holding the unit together, and in the manual it says not to 'over tighten' this bolt, or, 2) the lower bowel has a grooved milled in it at the bottom end of the female thread reciever for the bolt named above, but I can see how this would 'seal' anything it shouldn't come in contact with any other surface. I search the i-net for a diagram and cannot find one. Any help would be appreciated from the group.

Thx

Re: Perkins Fuel Filter

If you send me a PM with your email address I have the Perkins engine manual in PDF format, it shows breakdowns for filters, might help, be happy to forward it to you.

google Perkins manual. I found one for my England built 108 that was much more fitting to my engine than the manual I got with the boat.

Chris, I assume PM means personal message but I honestly do not know how to accomplish this. I went to your profile and attempted to leave you a message but, it would not let me do to something about email 'bb codes'. I'm at a loss

Thought you might find this interesting.

I got one for the Westerbeke in our Pearson 367 - nice unit. I HATED the trauma of bleeding the system every time the engine filter is changed. The unit costs $80 and you can use NAPA or equivalent spin-on filters.
