Perkins 4108 Fuel injection details

Hi All,

I been having some troubles with my perkins4108. Full details of the problem can be found under the cf thread title 'black smoke after rebuild'.

I have a favor to ask any Perkins 4108 owners. Long story short I have had to change injection pumps and I have lost the details (stamped on the pump) which were on the original.

If any owners out there would be able to supply me with the details of your operational fuel injection pumps it would be a massive assistance.

Also if anyone has the part numbers off their injector nozzles it would also help. Some sources have told me that ONLY Delphi nozzles (5352102) are suitible, once again anyone with any knowledge about this would be greatfully recieved.

My engine is Perkins 4108 mid 80's vintage eng# ED700584617374M & 108491604

Hi Stepwheel;
Fuel injection pump for the 4.108 marinized as you have, the low profile, is stamped like this: CAV DPA3247F190 DSA 123 Serial # something like.....R15272SY
EH34E1700/0/4480 also there is a DM stamped or cast into the aluminum case body of the pump.
Perkins parts book says the complete pump assembly is part # 37306 and the complete
injector assembly is part # 2645559 which includes the nozzle as part # 33435.
Injectors, also named atomizers, have the letters BG stamped on their bodies.
Hope this is what you were looking for.

Steve; Re-checked my injector pump numbers and the DSA 123 could be ...DSA 128 as it is scratched and faded in places.
Also looked at another pump from an older Perkins 4.107 which I was hoping to use as a spare and from what I could read as it is also scratched and faded, it reads....DPA 7247E060 SET FH55/1400/0/4480 Ser 25124ZX Hope this does not confuse you as it is confusing me.
As for the low compression; you have had many excellent responses and ideas and things to look for. Guess you also have re-checked the valve gaps after running the engine a bit?

Here are the Perkins and Lucas CAV injection pump numbers for my Perkins 4.108 in my 1981 Goldenwave:

Perkins 4.108 50hp Model: ED22195U S/N: 564947C

Lucas CAV fuel injection pump model: DPA 3247F190 S/N: R49688PX Other: EH34E1700/0/4480 D128

Thanks very much for that, It seems that one of my pumps should be suitible. I may have to send to manilaa for calibration as Delphi data specs seem difficult to find...
