We think its more to help protect the bolts from corrosion.
I am not shore what would be the correct torqu. Any idea?

Perkins 404D-22 Making a horrible popping sound.

Blue loctite is put on something that you want to remove without having to use excess force and or heat.
Red loctite is for when you don’t care what it takes to take it apart, you just don’t want it coming apart on its own.
The warning on the container of red loctite says it may take excessive force or heat to disassemble.
There are others of course, green comes immediately to mind, but 99% of what you need is covered with blue or red.

For items that don’t specify a torque, I’d go with “standard” torque. There are charts for fastener size and whether it’s shear loaded or tension, type of bolt etc.

She's in. Alignment and drilling the mounts today.
It just sits there gleaming at us.
Took me and the wife 9 hours to move it the 1.5m's to its final position.

Hey, you're almost there! I can hear it purring all the way down here in Tasmania. Only thing is, I wish that John had chosen a colour scheme less reminiscent of Volvo Green. Maybe he should hire Sailor Chick as a colour consultant!

Re: Perkins 404D-22 Making a horrible popping sound.

Looks really nice, very well done. Time to toss back a tall one...

Idle sounds high to me, and the intake sounds like it's louder than anything else (like my little Volvo; it's a good, common enough thing).

Be interesting to see how an engine hitting evenly on all four cylinders affects your driveline performance, though if I remember correctly you resolved the vibration issue previously.

My old ears were not hearing anything to bad there except a ticking, just do me a favour and drop all the belts off and run it for a minute, before you start stripping it.

Your old ears are just fine.
You are listening to my brand spanking new engine. So I hope it sounds ok..
I kicked the post off with a vid of my original engine and all its weird noises.
