Perkins 4.236 dpa hydraulic fuel pump leak

Got an old Perkins 4.236 that runs like a top. One small problem though. Where the throttle enters the fuel pump I've got a constant slow drip with the engine is running. I'd really like to avoid removing and having the pump rebuilt for a small leak. Is it possible to replace the seal without turning it into a major rebuild?

Yes, you take the 2 nuts off the cover and remove it. Undo the linkage and push out the shafts. replace the O-ring seals and reinstall the cover. You must get the springs attached in the proper positions. Watch u-tube videos 1st. Not hard to do just have to know how.
Seal kits are less than $15.00 on e-bay from tractor supply places.

Thanks Bill. I searched, but all I could find was for the CAV type with the rectangular/ boxy top. I've got a DPA type as apposed to the DPS and haven't been able to find anything. It would be much appreciated if you can point me in the right direction.

Grand son just put this in for me. Supposed to be DPA type but looks like CAV. I haven't looked at all the sites yet on google but many more besides this one.

I think there's also a Japanese version with a Kiki pump. Not very familiar with them.

Re: Perkins 4.236 dpa hydraulic fuel pump leak

Thanks Bill.
Great manual, too bad it isn't the right one for a DPA
I called a rebuilder this morning and they said they'd do a complete re & re for $700. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay for the whole monte.
The Scotsman in me isn't very happy right now, but I guess it will give me some peace of mind knowing it's been fully rebuilt by a pro.
