Perkins 4/108 tachometer

I have a Perkins 4/108 with mechanical tacho- and hourmeter. I am currently replacing all gauges and have to find out the speed ratio of the Tachometer (.5:1, 1:1, 2:1 ...) so I can order a new one. Can anybody help?

By mechanical I assume you mean driven by a cable. Doesn't that screw onto the back of the tach? Pull that out, turn over motor. Watch the flywheel. If it goes around once, how many times did the shaft move. That should give you your ratio. (i don't have a Perkins just trying to help)

I see what you mean, it should do the trick in theory. I am not sure if I can turn the engine in a controllable fashion though since no decompression is installed. Good idea nevertheless, thank you.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Holger.

The Shop Manual may have some useful information.

Don't you also need to know the drive ratio of the engine driven takeoff point?
