Perkins 4 108 Flame start, thermostart aka Glowplug

Hello
I have an old 1975 Perkins 4 108

I'm looking at installing the flame start because the old dog does not want to start in colder temperatures. Usually around launch and haul out time when the summer weather has turned colder. During the summer I have no issues.

I've studied all of the threads regarding how to install on sailnet. Any who has done this have any insight?

I'm also wondering if anyone has a picture of the plug with either the gravity feed diesel reservoir or the direct line into the low pressure diesel pump.

I want to make sure I install this correctly

Thanks!

I think I found a decent picture if anyone else is doing the same.

The fuel line is connected to the lift pump.

I am not sure about the 4-108, but some diesels have a boss in the intake manifold to install a glow plug for cold weather starting. This is different than the glow plugs that warm the combustion chamber. This would warm the incoming air to the engine. I think you would find it much cheaper and easier than a fuel burning air heater. Just a thought for you. Grant.
