OK all you Perkins
4-107 experts ... I've learned a whole lot about how my engine
should operate reading responses you've made to different posts.
I've got my engine
all back together, completely rebuilt. Remember, I've never ran a diesel
before in my life so this is all new to me. Don't worry, I've been a mechanic
of one sort or another my whole life.
My starter is on the opposite side as the injector pump
. I'm not actually starting the engine yet; just rolling it over. When I run the starter motor
it engages but does not withdraw. When I bench test the starter the spring retracts fine. ... Will the starter retract when the engine starts? What's normal?
