I have the fuel pump out, not an easy task in the confined torture chamber of a Mariner 32. With the fuel pump in front of me it looks tantalizingly do-able. I did previously talk to Foley's on the phone and they said not to do it as it would be a nightmare and he advised me to replace the whole pump. Then while searching on line I came across a previous thread on the "Cruiser's Forum" talking about this same problem, so I joined this happy band yesterday hoping to find out whether others have indeed fixed it themselves.
So what should I do ? Has anybody out there actually done it ?

If it looks tantalizingly do-able to you than to you, than you probably have the skills to do it ! Someone else who is sitting in front of the IP on the bench with palms sweating will probably bugger the job badly....

This was do-able in situ, but since you have the pump out do a body reseal as recommended by shakey doug... This is not voodoo for an above average wrench owner... Make sure you have all new crush rings if not included in your seal kit...

The final report should go something like this...

"Hey gang... Thanks for the help... It was easier than I thought... Engine is purring, and pump is leak free..."

We sent a customer with the same pump to Atmore Fuel Injection in Atmore, Alabama. He paid $460 for a complete rebuild.

I had my 4108's injection pump and 4 injectors rebuilt in Orlando for $583.
