Paragon 'P-Series' Questions

I have a pair of 1968 327F engines in my CC Cavalier. They have "P" series Paragon transmissions and they both seem to drag a little, especially in reverse. First question: Should the shafts turn freely with the engine off and the transmission in neutral (boat in the water)? Mine do not. I recently replaced the cutlass' and both shafts including dripless stuffing boxes. Second question: Other than changing the fluid, are there any other checks I should make (relief valve, etc) and if so, what are they?

Thanks for any input you guys can provide.

Dave

Re: Paragon 'P-Series' Questions

You might want to check your shaft alignment to the trans coupling. Your CC has wood beams for engine mounts and may have allowed misalignment between the two. There are lots of info on CF on aligning your shafts to trans available.

Re: Paragon 'P-Series' Questions

Thanks for the tip.I just had all the running gear from the transmission back replaced (my insurance company was not happy) this year but I suppose there could have been some movement. I will check into that, thanks again!
