Re: Out Boards

Is there no inboard diesel aboard? Is there no space for one?

What is the displacement of the boat?

A lot depends on your transom type, in determining if an outboard would work at all.

Re: Out Boards

Outboards push a boat pretty well. They dont reverse well at all. The traditional problem on sailboats is when the water gets choppy, the outboard prop bobs in and out of the water as the boat hobby horses.... not good for the motor, not good for trying to get somewhere. Attempts at building outboard "wells" further forward are often fraught with problems of scooping water into the well dousing the engine a lot and slowing the boat down.

Re: Out Boards

Ugly. Unless it's on the dinghy and you hip tie it to tow the schooner.
