oops - Here's the link to the CBS Interview.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/...LowerPromoArea

Really makes me feel like a chump for spending 8 years in college studying Architecture, and another 20 working my ass off, living frugally, investing carefully, conservatively, and wisely to achieve my cruising dreams, when all I needed to do was gouge my eyes out with screwdriver, then go begging for a free ride.

Oh well, live and learn....

Say, as I write this, I'ts raining, and I'm sitting at Starbucks.

Iits very wet just outside the door.

Anyone know the average out of court settlement a deep pocket American corporation pays for an alleged soft-tissue slip and fall injury?

A free Monitor Windvane would be SWEET!

=)

We're going to call this "Hogan math."

It's suddenly possible to see where all the wind reported on your video came from.

I've never stepped foot on a Flicka, but on other boats the apparent wind moves forward as boat velocity increases.

....at Four Winds:

I hate Facebook. It just makes that creepy Autistic Zuckerman nerd even richer so he can get even with the normal people who tormented him in highschool and college.

My blog is public, and much more telling of my philosophy and ethical system. Dont believe me?

I just did a series of posts lambasting the whole Autism "Epidemic" yesterday.

Follow my sig, read it, and get to know me better. Then click on "archive" for a broader cross section of my writing and photography.

WARNING: If you are easily offended, a midget, a clown, or especially, all of the above, DONT READ MY BLOG!

You've been warned.

Bash -

I admitted I was wrong about that.

When's the last time you screwed up?

Did you publically admit it?

I screw up every single day, repeatedly.

Just a moment ago I tried to slip and fall out in front of Starbucks in my boat shoes so I could sue them and get a new windvane, but I failed miserably.

Damed Top-Siders

oh, and my blog is at wfhogan.tumblr.com

DONT READ IT.

Its full of obscentities, nudity, Oprah bashing, spelling, and mathematical errors.

Its also funny as hell.

Was all that before or after you inherited the $500,000 from your grandmother?

Re: OMG ! Clawing Off a Lee Shore in a Gale !

I have to wonder, do you have any personal experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder? Do you have any children of your own? As the parent of a child with a diagnosis of autism, I'm just curious as to where you acquired your vast knowledge on the subject. Since your opinions were posted on your blog and not here, I won't bother to go in to more detail here, I was just wondering what made you think it was OK to hold forth on this subject in that manner. I did not think it was "funny as hell".

Re: OMG ! Clawing Off a Lee Shore in a Gale !

It's not a gale but it's all I've got (so far).
I sail by the seat of my pants, apparent wind angle wasn't on my mind at the time the video was shot.

I appreciate the discussion, am not easily offended (STFU Hogan), love the give and take, and admire shutzpa when I see it.

I wanna hear more..... I wanna see more...... I wanna learn more

Pretty good discussion IMHO

Amen to that! I have been wrong so many times in 7000 posts it's ridiculous.

I could argue an untenable position for three pages or say, yup I screwed that up in one post.

Sometimes you forget a fact, confuse port and starboard or something simple. Sometimes one uncovers a basic misunderstanding of apparent wind and someone learns something.

If Hoagie learned one thing on this thread it was appareent wind...

Back to our regularly schduled hubris...

Actually, I've been keeping track. So far you've only been wrong six times on this forum.

But they've been doozies.

Re: OMG ! Clawing Off a Lee Shore in a Gale !

@ Minarette:

How many of my Autism posts did you read?

Who do you think I was mocking?

(hint, it sure isn't the tens of thousands of American children misdiagnosed with the disorder because it's fashionable and qualifies them for a plethora social services and assistance of dubious value to the child)

Start with my first post on the subject, and work your way up to the stuff about midgets, then post your comments on my discussion forum on my blog. This is not the place to debate whether one of Hugh Hefner's hooker/models (Jenny McCarthy) single handedly cured autism.

True Autism is an exceedinly rare, tragic, severe condition with no cure. Parents who have such children should be appalled at how it's boundies have been expanded to include the fruits of simple bad parenting.

Read the LA Times series on the subject.

Re: OMG ! Clawing Off a Lee Shore in a Gale !

After reading the first few posts in this thread, I figured it would die in the first page.
Boy was I wrong.
If anyone's counting my mistakes, this is one of them.
