If I were concerned about pre detonation I would be carful to use a fine enough pitched prop so that the engine does not "bog down". You want it to be able to accelerate smoothly when you open the throttle.

I know! But I'll bet most people trailering just go to the nearest station and drive through the regular pumps. One station close to me has the pump so obscured I don't see how anyone could get a trailer in there and then it is blocked by delivery trucks. I'm guessing it is such a low profit sale, they don't care. I think I'd opt. to buy at a marina. But that's no longer marine white I don't think.
