oil problem

i just overhauled my cummins 6bta b motor. i'm not getting oil from the oil pan to the oil pump, i swapped out oil pump but still no oil, any suggestions before i pull motor again?

Check out priming a oil pump something like this. Worth looking into

As you've changed out the oil pump. Either there is a blockage in the oil suction line or an air leak in it. Could also be a blockage down stream of the pump. Hows your oil pressure relief valve. Also verify that your oil pressure gauge is correct..

There is a grill filter at the oil suction from the pump? but i guess you check that ...
With the valves head cover out and engine runing , you see oil splashing around valves ??

I vote for an air leak on the suction side. Generally speaking a positive displacement pump doesn't need priming unless the pump is badly worn. If the pump was a new install and pre oiled it should do the job.

Pre oiled is the key. Could be air leak but the pumps won't prime if they are completely drained and dry.
