Oil pressure sender

I have a Westerbeke 44A with a suspect oil pressure sender. Westerbeke parts are pretty spendy, will a generic sender do just as well?

Re: Oil pressure sender

Get a matched sender and oil pressure gauge. Put a tee fitting in and add a pressure switch connected to an idiot light and buzzer for a nice touch. Mount the idiot light above the oil pressure gauge.

Re: Oil pressure sender

Rule of thumb, single wire senders will pretty much interchange, same for 2 wire senders. The actual pipe thread and pressure may vary.

Re: Oil pressure sender

match the gauge range to the sender range, then just make sure the pipe size is right

The Westerbeke P/N 24132 typically sells for $75. I cross referenced a Sierra replacement P/N 23-5880 which I found for as low as $50. Then I asked Teleflex what the difference was between the Sierra model and a generic 240-33 ohm Teleflex unit (they sell both) and I was told that they have the same specs just from different product lines. The Teleflex unit sells for $26 from Defender.

Re: Oil pressure sender

Standard - eCatalog
in their online catalog, you can search by specification needed, then go into NAPA, etc and get it. I do not see oil pressure senders, only switches,
also try www.summitracing.com same deal here at http://www.summitracing.com/search/p...ssure%20sender
