Oil Pressure Guage/Sender

I want to add oil pressure & coolant temp guages to monitor my engine rather than relying just on the warning lights.

My motor is an ageing Sole Mini34 - 4 Cyl freshwater cooled. Runs very well with no apparent problems.

Most oil pressure guages I see around on the market are either 0-80 or 0-100 psi - which guage/sender combination do you reckon would be most suitable for the motor? The Instruction Manual makes no mention of oil pressure.

Also - the motor currently only has a Oil Pressure Switch to activate the warning light. There doesn't seem to be much room to fit the proposed new sender, I will have to have another look on the weekend to make sure. Do manufacturers typically have alternate locations to fit such devices?

The gauge usually comes with the sender it requires.

I will be purchasing a guage with the matching sender.

My question really is which range instrument (matched guage & sender) would be the most appropriate for my motor - the 0-80 or the 0-100 - does it matter?

The discontinued Sole Mini 34 is based upon the 4 cylinder 31 HP Mitsubishi engine.
The OEM Oil Pressure Gauge, as supplied by Sole Diesel (they 'Marinize' Mitsu'), is 150 psi (10 bar) .

I went to the Sole site and completely overlooked the instruments section. Nice looking guages. I bet they are pricey.

They look similar to Stewart Warner faces.

(0 psi = 40 Ohms ~ full scale= 33.5 Ohms)

I’m not certain why Sole offers the 150 psi gauge.
I’d be interested to see the Mitsubishi engine specifications, and use a gauge whose full-scale reading is about twice the normal operating pressure.
Since electrical instruments are generally most accurate at about ½ full-scale, and most diesels run in the neighbourhood 40psi, the 80 psi gauges are most commonly used.
