Every 150 hours would be once per month for me untill Turkey.... and once or twice at sea.... LOL

Asia was a lot of motoring, as was GOA.

I shall have a think about it.

I don't go on the change the oil more often than recommended as it just becomes an ever decreasing circle of fear to where I heard a super morotyacht was changing oil after everytime they went out for one day on their 2 x 2,000hp donks.

Got the same engine, circa year 2000, and the same manual - oil change every 150 hours and filter change every 300 hours. Usually (but not always) I change the filter at the same time. My tranny also takes motor oil and gets changed every 150 hours. Eleven hundred hours on it in ten years. I did a similar tight schedule on all the Mercedes diesel cars I owned (a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away) and they all went well over the 300K mile mark when I sold them.
A friend of mine has the turbo variety of this engine (same age) with 3500 hours on it and it still runs like new - no cylinder sleeve change for him in the near future...

Every 250 hours or one year, whichever comes first.

Frequent oil changes is the primary key to engine longevity.
