Novel Way to Connect Two Shutdown Cables to Diesel Engine?

Hi,

I've got a Yanmar 3JH2E and the shutdown cable is up at the bridge deck.

I'm planning to add a start key and shutdown cable back at the helm, and I'm wondering if there is a novel solution to put two cables on the same Shutdown arm?

Install an electric solenoid to pull the shutdown lever and you can have remote switches anywhere you want. Just push button switches.

It is not very novel but put both cables through the clevis and have a stop on each one. Or use a short bit of small chain on each cable, (need a spring.) Either cable can pull the arm independently.

Lancer, I don't trust electrons...

Chain and spring will work great, that will solve having both connected to the same point and having both move at the same time.

Thanks!

I'll respect your mistrust of electrons, but I'll mention that the only time my electrical cut-off solenoid failed during the 6,500+ hours of operating my Yanmar was when the mechanical link, little chain, from the solenoid failed.
