New Solenoid, Perkins 4-108 / Engine Will Not Turn Over

Okay gents am scratching my head on this one.

I replaced the solenoid with new one, wired the alternator directly to the house battery where before it was run to the solenoid. The solenoid has a power source from the common post of the 1/2/both switch and the sensing wire are attached.

The rest of the system is made up of a house bank and a starting battery with an ACR been them to keep the charge be balanced. The only change was moving the alternator wire from the solenoid to the house bank to avoid the dreaded alternator death by 1/2/ both switch incident.

So what is keeping the solenoid from engaging (I still see a voltage drop at the solenoid but no sound associated with the solenoid when I try to start the engine).

Well thanks for the words wisdom. I was able to troubleshoot it down to a fault ground on the new solenoid. Returned for another, problem resolved. Thanks EC Sailor.
