And you don't think marine gensets are marinised???

Ok, ask yourself this. How would a business compete in a market if they purchased an assembled engine and then spent time and money over the initial cost pulling it apart, replacing components and then rebuilding it? Just doesn't make economical sense unless perhaps you're building racing machines.

What happens in reality is that the manufacturer supplies engines to the specifications of the buyer. Don't want a flywheel, exhaust manifold, starter or alternator? No problem. Want a governor or different injection system? Sure, if on the specification list. Engine doesn't provide the right power and torque or options for the application? Move to another model or manufacturer.

The old 3/152 goes close. Might not make them anymore, though.

The 4-108 was rated at 50 and was standard on the OI41 for a while but was supposedly to small.

My 4-154 @ 62hp has powered me through some tough stuff but I baby her when I can.

Not sure what Perkins is building now but parts for mine are dear.

I saw a rebuild kit for $700 US online last year for mine and was sorely tempted to buy it and stash it away. $2k is the usual asking price afaik.
