Motor Only Runs with Half Choke

I am buying a boat on the weekend and the owner told me that the Palmer 30hp motor only runs with the choke half on. Off the top of your head what would you guess this would be caused by? Would it be a huge thing to fix?

I am getting pretty good deal on the boat, so I expect some repair issues.

pull the main jet and clean really well with something like lacq thinner or carb cleaner to dislove the varnish... It probably has a bunch of "varnish" buildup which is restricting the fuel flow.

Easy fix

Ok. Thanks for the advice guys. It seems like it should be a fairly easy fix then. Just a little bit of my time involved.

Thanks for your quick responses guys.

Gumout makes a carb cleaner kit. It is about the size of a paint can and has the solvent in it. Plus there is a little basket for the small parts.

Wear Eye Protection if you use compressed air.....as the orifices can surprise you.
