Hey guys:
I've got a Mercruiser Sailpower 210cc 2-stroke
outboard (long shaft).
It failed on us last year on haul-out, and since then, sat in the shed. I took the plugs out, wire brushed 'em, set the gaps, put them back together, and it ran like a CHARM! (First pull, no complaining, etc...)
Now that it's back on the
boat... it won't start anymore. I'm going to pull the plugs again to check them.
The manual calls for 50:1, but there's a note taped in it that says "Mix Gas 100:1"). I've been told by different people that "2 strokes like their
fuel mix perfect", and by others "2 strokes don't give a $#!% about their mix, I've run them anywhere from 100:1, to 40:1".
Plugs in it right now are L-82YC plugs, as called in the manual, and
fuel mix is 5000ml to 100ml of
oil. (50:1). Performance AMS-OIL for
2 stroke.
Gap for the successful running was set with a fresh Canadian dime (~1.0mm)...
Who has thoughts about what I should check, what I should replace?
Halp!
