mechanic needed

I need a mechanic to hook up water hoses and fuel lines to a 50 hp perkins diesel on a Tayana 36 in Daytona Beach, Fl. Can anyone recommend a reputable mechanic for that area?

Re: mechanic needed

Err um Sandman,

Why would you want to pay someone to perform such a simple job?

The existing hoses usually have the size and type printed on them. Come up with a list of how much is needed of each type and size and buy in bulk with a wee bit extra for any oops. For hoses with wire reinforcement use a hack saw. Otherwise the cutter used for PVC works pretty well.

Get some new hoseclamps that are REAL stainless and you are good to go. At worst, find somebody on the dock to demonstrate. Decent mechanics are often around $100/hr. It's one of the easiest jobs on a boat.

So get your hands dirty and save a bunch of money!

Rich

The motor and hoses were removed. The motor was overhauled and put back in without putting the hoses back. I just need a schematic showing how they are routed.

Re: mechanic needed

Good luck Sandman, I see your problem now. But a half way decent engine diagram will make things a bit easier. If it makes you feel more confident, hire a mechanic to check your work. Changing hoses is not difficult just tedious and knuckle scraping. 🍷🍷

Tomorrow, if it's not pouring rain again, my mechanic will let me know if I need a new engine. Definitely beyond my pay grade!!
