Re: MD2030 Exhaust Elbow

Any Volvo Penta dealer will have them or can get them quickly. Or do what a lot of us do and get a good local welder to make one out of stainless. Don't try to copy the design exactly. Just weld an elbow to a flange, insert a raw water injection port down the elbow out of direct line to the exhaust outlet and make up a short hose to connect the raw water boot outlet to the new exhaust injection port.

It will cost half as much as the VP cast elbow and last twice as long or longer.

If you go the original parts route, then I suggest Marine Parts Express (Volvo Penta, Mercruiser and more - Marine Parts Express - engines, outdrives, propellers). Just recently used them. Prices were substantially lower than my usual distributor, knowledgeable, good service.

thank you for the reply, good idea, a few questions:is it important where the raw water injection port is situated inside the elbow? will the stainless heat too much and ruin the rubber? will it make exhaust noise?

thanks again mark ..

Re: MD2030 Exhaust Elbow

Locate the injection port lower than the exhaust port in the engine manifold and higher than the hose. The water injected will cool the elbow so there will not be any problem with the rubber hose. I don't understand the question about exhaust noise - it won't be any louder than your other elbow.

Re: MD2030 Exhaust Elbow

Also, I just replaced my Yanmar elbows with parts from Ben at ExhaustElbow.com - Better Than Factory New Although he has Yanmars apparently made up, he also says he will do others, too. The pieces were gorgeous, great welds, everything better than stock. Ben was quick with shipping and the parts went on just like stock. Quite a bit cheaper, too.
