Marine Diesel Workshop for Women in MA, USA

Hi, all,

The National Women's Sailing Association is sponsoring a two-day marine diesel workshop for women in New Bedford, MA March 15-16. This workshop is taught at the Mack Boring (Yanmar distributor) facility in New Bedford.

Although the engines on site are all Yanmars, the methods practiced are easily transferable to other engines (I've taken it, and I've never owned a Yanmar…I found it quite useful for my own engine maintenance).

My wife attended a "Men's" diesel workshop and found it useful. Not sure what would be different in a Woman's workshop except that no men are allowed.

My instructor said he could teach women in two days what it took three days to teach men…the men were always horsing around, (in his opinion) trying to see if they could blow something up. Having spent nine months in trade school with a bunch of guys, I can understand what he was saying...

LOL. We blow stuff up to see how it works. Much faster than reading a manual!

She does when shes not making frosty Beverages I told once a month should be ok for now, but when the water warms up a bit.....

ps you guys living aboard ? Those EC' 36's are very comfy inside, and tough boats!

The "Rhode Home" is on the hard right now, with some snow on the foredeck. It is extremely comfy, but really needs a warmer location. I see you are in Tavernier. I founded the PostNet at MM88 and lived on Plantation Key for 5 years in the 90s.
