Just cap off the fitting. All it does is add more cooling water to the seal area so it doesn't overheat with the high RPM's.

In my case, the boat sits on the hard when not in use so I've installed a petcock to bleed out the air when it goes back in the water rather then pulling back the bellowes......................._/)

I wish I would have put aluminum pans under the engine and gear when I had my boat opened up.

An accessable drip pan with a couple of nice white oilsorbs makes me happy.

Otherwise smooth the bilges, clean 'em, and paint 'em as has been suggested above.
