Re: Looking for Somebody for Polishing the Tank In DKM vicinity

Being in the business of cleaning fuel tanks - I have to ask "why do you want the fuel polished?"

Our immediate response to when a customer ask for such is "that's like putting the baby back in the dirty diaper".

I don't really understand your question, but I'll try to answer the best I can
I have bought this boat last year: it's an endeavour 35 of 1984, one owner only before me. The two years before I buy it the boat didn't go out much.
I have used it intensely since one year but mainly in the bay.
I intend to go out at sea.
The movement of the boat would be more intense and if their is slush and deposit in the bottom of the tank (37 gallons) I suppose that they will be mixed in the diesel and that will be the cause of some problem that I want to avoid out there.
That is why I would like to have the tank cleaned before going outside the bay for longer trip.
Is that sound so strange?

Re: Looking for Somebody for Polishing the Tank In DKM vicinity

He understands that part of it. What he is saying is that doing that will clean your fuel, but it will do nothing to remove the gunk that has likely built up on the sides/top of your tank that will continue to contaminate your fuel after it has been polished.
That being said, I have a fuel contamination issue on my boat as well. Polishing the fuel always helps with the problem, but I don't think it ever goes away. The best fix is to replace the diesel tank all together.

The tank has been replaced in 2006 by the previous owner with a custom made (based on original drawings) in SS.

Alecadi, sorry I can't answer your question directly but, IMHO, your best bet is to do it yourself. A 37 gal. tank shouldn't be to much of a problem. You will know it was done properly if you do it yourself.

If you knew me, you should have known that if I do something like that by myself I would have to call after that 3 or 4 handymen to repair the disaster I would have left after me, not talking of triple the cost in comparison of having someone of the art doing it for me in the first place....

If you were in the Tampa Bay area, I would gladly professionally clean your fuel tank.

Just checking to make sure that the crew here clarified that polishing fuel and cleaning fuel tanks are two different exercises, albeit with the same end goal...
