Question Long-Term Storage

What precautions do I need to take to store a small diesel (Yanmar 4-JHTE) for 1 to 2 years? Out of the boat storage specifically. Engine was run up to the time it was hauled and nothing has been done to it since.

Change oil?
Fog it? (can you fog a diesel that you can't run?)

See the Yanmar Help “Winterizing” advice:
WINTERIZE the ENGINE

The Yanmar Service Manual may have some advice on long-term storage.

Yes, you can "fog" the engine, out of the water.

Remove the silencer. While holding the stop button, press the starter button and spray CRC 'Longlife' into the air intake. Take about 10 seconds per cylinder with stops every 10 seconds to admire the view. ( and let the starter cool down )
