Instrument Gauges Bouncing for Universal Diesel

Last summer on my trip trip to Alaska the gauges in the instrument panel for my universal diesel developed a slight bounce for all the gauges. (Tach, voltage, oil, and temp.) It was only slight at first but developed to where now, nothing is readable/reliable. Also they bounce at idle and and at cruising speed, but will react a little bit with the increase in rpm's. I'm trying to get everything ready for this summer, which means fixing everything I broke last summer and properly functioning gauges are a priority. Has anyone dealt with this issue? I've been looking for loose wires leading from the panel, but everything looks clean with no corrosion. Does anyone have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this?

I would start by checking the ground wire. I believe that is common to all the gauges. Check any plug connections in the harness. Try adding a new ground wire direct to the battery.

Since all of your instruments are "bouncing", I'd suspect your problem may lie with the common positive feed/negative return to/from the gauges.
