Inspection Plates

Planning to cut two holes in my fuel tank for cleaning access and future inspection covers,

The question, is 1/8" 6061 aluminum thick enough or should the cover plates be 3/16".

I am planning on 7" plates to cover a 5" hole

thanks

Fletch
