Re: I was Bored so Pulled the Head on my Yanmar

Well been messing about in the lazzerette. Got half of the "stuff" hooked up.

Just have to finish getting the prop coupling lined up with the engine, hook up the starter and ground connections and stop cable. Connect fuel and bleed the engine a bit more and it will be ready. Oh and connecting the prop shaft to the transmission, once I have the alinement finished. Its close, but still a few thousands out of where I want it. I'm thinking by tomorrow noon, it should be ready to go.

Yes I am excited.

Alas, I'm almost a luddite and don't own anything that shoots video. My cell phone is a non-smart phone. My camera is just a still camera. My BFF who can shoot video is off to the city tomorrow, so no video available. Still it will be a great way to finish the week..... hopefully.

Oh, I did check the injection timing and the injectors pop off at the correct marks on the flywheel, at least thats how it looked at the angle I was viewing it at. So that's good.

Oh Lordy, Do I. Though I must admit it has not been boring....

I've got some sailing plans for the next few weeks. Gee this is the longest I've been at a dock in years.... Fingers and toes crossed that the engine starts tomorrow. Pretty sure it will be fine.

A sentiment shared by many of us the night before a start up. Not knowing with 100% certainty is part of what adds to the euphoric feeling of pride when it does.

Good luck tomorrow.

Re: I was Bored so Pulled the Head on my Yanmar

Well the very good news is the engine runs like a top. Sounds and starts easy. Well after bleeding the injectors and tightening one injector bolt that someone forgot to tighten.

The bad news is I have a hole in my external oil line that goes to the rockers and cam.

So I'm going to pull the starter so I can remove the line and see if I can have a section brazed on it.

But that's the only issue I have... well so far...

Of course its at the location that just about impossible to get to..

Re: I was Bored so Pulled the Head on my Yanmar

I always had the faith, SC, so I'm not surprised.

Hope that there is enough left in the kitty to have a nice glass of red (or your faivorite substitute) and contemplate a job well done... and then to enjoy many hours of good engine performance!

Cheers,

Jim

Way to go SC!!!

If that's the only hiccup you've done wildly well. The best thread I've read on CF period.
