Freakin awesome! You are my dream girl, a sailor and self taught diesel mechanic. Showed my wife this thread and told her she needs to step up her game

No matter how many trips around the sun I have left I'll probably never see another purple Yanmar with pink fuel lines.

We need a YouTube video of the beast roaring back to life SC or it never happened

Well being an old fashion girl, I don't have one of those new fangled moving picture devices. Though I may know someone that does... Nope no smart phone either... Don't like things smarter then me... My camera only takes photos, no video.

But yes, i will be really excited, assuming it runs.... I'm only a little nervous about that. Always wondering if I missed a spec of dirt under a bearing or messed something up. But it all seems to work, and the injector pump control is in the slot and does move with the cutoff lever, etc...

Today is a rest day as i am pooped just a tiny bit...

Gee I'm a self taught engineer, computer programmer, photographer, sailor etc. Though my dad was the one to teach me how to use tools...

You all enjoy your day, I'm off to enjoy some sun...

I envy, your ability to turn it off and enjoy some down time, in the midst of a project...;-)

SC, you're an inspiration to all. This is the best cf thread ever, and the best story. We wish you good fortune and a little luck putting everything back together.

Great progress SC!!!

I wish 1/2 of my projects went this fast... But other stuff like building a rotary phase converter for the the big compressor are jumping in the way!

You'll have the fuel coursing through the pink lines, and the purple baby ticking soon!!!

Re: I was Bored so Pulled the Head on my Yanmar

Well today I was a slacker...again. I went shopping for a electric fuel pump for diesels and both auto stores I stopped in were out. So picked up a manual priming bulb to use to help prime the fuel side. I'll have it installed inline too to allow easy priming in the future.

Got some muscle available Thursday or Friday to drop the engine back into place. Then a few days hooking up all the electrical / plumbing. Pretty exciting!!

Tomorrow I finish out the engine rebuild by getting the back half installed. That's the fly wheel, starter, damper plate and transmission. Then Wednesday I'll see about moving my racor filter so I can get to it easy from the companion way access, rather then crawling into the lazzerette.

Plus I'll change out the packing gland packing. It's only 4 years old, but I'll not get an easier time of it then now. Already have a used bike inner tube to wrap around the stern tube while the packing nut is off.

So Thursday or Friday purple goes back in. Just have to line up my people to do the grunt work. Then I get to do my happy dance.... Well once it starts too. That will be another happy dance...

Re: I was Bored so Pulled the Head on my Yanmar

I bet it will be nice to have those little things sorted out also. :>) Watch that squeeze bulb, for some reason the gas ones seem to get soft after a year or so with diesel. I imagine you tried NAPA for the electric pump....

When you relocate the Racor leave the space for a marine approved diesel pump close to it.
And p l e a s e think again about the inline installation of the sqeezey thing.

sailorchic-- napa is the best place to get the pump and buy 2.... keep a spare. it is the low pressure assist pump....

no need to go to 400 percent mark up for this.

For the record, I cross my toes in my shoes every time I crank up an engine for the first time after a rebuild.

A little religion doesn't hurt either....

Kneeling... Crossing yourself... Lighting a few candles.... Sacrifice a baby lamb...

Pulling apart a recent rebuild is one of the things you want to avoid at all costs...

I usually just make a drink and have a smoke though....
