Re: I Have No Engine!

Rebuild the one you have at 1,500 dollars you are just buying problems.

being a mechanic i sure you could get a machine shop to give you a professional courtesy discount on machining.

Re: I Have No Engine!

If all those other brands blew up and you still don't like Yanmar have you considered a steam engine?

Re: I Have No Engine!

Having skippered an OI 41 in the Bahamas a few years back, the
Perkins 4.154 was a good match. It is rated about 70 HP, whereas the 4.108 is 51 HP.

I am rebuilding a 4.154 and getting parts is a PITA, but I have enough new parts for this rebuild. Asking $5,000 after test running.

A complete rebuild kit for a Perkins 4.108 is less than $1,000,, this includes new cylinder liners, pistons, rings, valves, springs, bearings, seals and gaskets. Foley has the rebuild kit for a 4.107 for $1,500.

I am doing a re-man on a 4.108 - $5,500
Re-build on a 4.108 - $4,500

+ delivery and sales tax if you live in Florida.

Re: I Have No Engine!

first question are you a sailor or a trawler? If a sailer then you don't need an engine and if a trawler then sell your sail boat and buy a real trawler. I love both but tend to like slow dependable trawlers like defevers

I took the bolded statement to mean that he had a 4-107 in storage.
