The engine was shut down. I was loading it on the dock to load up for a trip on a Elusive. I thought I had the dinghy tied off well enough, but when the prop got to the dock, the dinghy moved back. Outboard went down. I held on. The motor went under. I still held on. I went under. I still held on. Legs were in the inflatable. Head was under water. I still held on. Thank god I have a good back. I managed to pull the outboard up out of the water far enough to get one hand on the side of the boat, and pulled the motor back into the boat. Now, a normal person would have called for help, but not me, I pulled the dinghy back into the dock, took another wrap on the line, and set the outboard on the dock. Worked that time
Like I said, after pickling the motor, I would have tried to mount it back on the dinghy. Some times it takes me a few mistakes to realize something won't work.
