Re: How to fix an outboard that has been dunked?

I didn't have a chance to give you all an update, I got the engine going. It was shockingly not very hard. Now she runs as good as she ever did. Thanks for all the help.

Re: How to fix an outboard that has been dunked?

Rebuilding a carb is pretty simple. The hardest thing is remembering how it goes back together, so the first few times, be sure to take plenty of pictures of each stage of the pull down. If the the engine was running fine before the dunk, then it is very simple to clean the carb, soak in a can of carb cleaner, then wash it in hot water, then blow dry it with air hose, but be careful not to put too much air pressure in the carb. There are some sensitive parts inside the carb which you do not want to blow apart with too much air pressure.
