In most of the world, diesel
is still high sulfur. You can tell if its normally good if it has a waxy feel to it and a semi-gloss sheen. Learn your diesel
by rubbing it between your fingers. Should be able to tell dirty fuel
, low sulfur fuel
, diesel mixed with gasoline, and so forth. Useful skill to have. Sometimes, as in a previous poster's remarks, you get diesel that really is partly refined crude, which you really do not want in your tanks
. Stealing fuels at refineries is common worldwide and sometimes what is stolen are not the end products but still good for fires, lubrication, and so forth.
