Hello to you all as this is my first post,My question is as follows does the raw water hose need to be reduced in diamater between seacock intake and oil cooler for any reason,The seacock and weedtrap are one unit,Its a Perkins 4.236 and Borg Warner gear box.Looking foreward to replies and Thank you in advance
Is it already like this or do you want to make a modification? The raw water inlets are not the same diameter as the raw wateroil cooler lines. Most of the water goes to the heat exchanger for the enginecoolant. You don't need lines that large to supply the oil cooler. I would not advise changing what the tranny or the engine manufacturer has determined works best for your setup.
It's usually better to have a larger seacock then your lines feeding the internal parts. Sometimes there maybe slight obstructions or growth which will restrict the flow. So larger allows enough water for smaller hoses. And you will not get any more water then the smallest orifice allows.
