Help Identify this engine

This is from the ad. I am going to see it run on monday and would like to do some research ahead of time. It is a vetus but I would like the model number

We have a running 40 horse that we bought for a sailboat project, then abandoned the project.
It comes complete with manifolds and water pumps.
Motor mounts are 17 1/2 inches wide center to center.
18 inches fore and aft.
Output is level with motor mount center line.

thanks

You might be right but what model? It doesn't look like a C240.

Re: Help Identify this engine

You can tell by looking at it that it was an industrial engine that was marinized. At least I can try looking up Isuzu industrial engine dealers and give them a S/N

Re: Help Identify this engine

It is yellow like an isuzu, I have one in my boat. However, He said it was a Vetus.

This link has Vetus' old and current models. You have to register to look at specifics, which I have not done.

Isuzu base engines are always white the expansion tank & heat exchanger can be any color. The valve cover is the give away it's white and the oil fill is in the middle

Ah, mine is entirely yellow, the previous owner must have painted it during a rebuild.

Re: Help Identify this engine

I suspect that that engine is a Peugoet Indenor XDP4/90. This is an engine that was marinised by Vetus and also by Volvo in the 1970's and 80's.
